Established in 1914, members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States Auxiliary set out to serve the veterans of this country and our communities in honor of the sacrifices and commitment of every man and woman who has served in uniform. The VFW Auxiliary is one of the nation’s oldest veterans’ service organizations and our members are the relatives of those who served in a location of foreign conflict. Nearly 470,000 members in more than 3,500 Auxiliaries nationwide, plus three foreign-based Auxiliaries, volunteer millions of hours and fundraise millions of dollars for charitable projects that benefit veterans, military service personnel and their families. - sited from vfwauxiliary.org
The Auxiliary to the Nolan D. Pickett VFW Post 5621 located in Liberty, Texas was instituted on January 14,1947, and currently has 117 members all throughout the United States.
As we participate in our National Programs, such as: Americanism, Auxiliary Outreach, Buddy Poppy & National Home, Hospital, Legislative, Membership, Mentoring, Scholarships, Veterans & Family Support, and Youth; we also host many activities free of charge for children and the community, as well as projects to benefit the veterans of our community.
As we are a nonprofit organization, we are able to do this through countless fundraisers, donations, and sponsorships.
We assist our Post Members with their projects and programs such as Flag Retirement Ceremonies and placing flags on the graves of veterans at all of our local cemeteries for Veterans' Day and Memorial Day.
We prepare meals for First Responders for Patriot Day (9/11) and for veterans on Veterans' Day.
We are just one auxiliary of District 2 of the Department of Texas, and we work closely with the other auxiliaries in our District, consisting of Beaumont, Cleveland, Orange, Port Neches, and, of course, us here in Liberty.

You must be related to a veteran who has served overseas in a location of foreign conflict, earning the campaign medals eligible. That veteran can be a living or deceased spouse, parent, child, sibling, grandparent or grandchild.
Step- and adopted parents, children, siblings (and half-siblings), grandparents and grandchildren are considered the same as biological parents, children, siblings, grandparents and grandchildren and may join the VFW Auxiliary under their VFW-eligible veteran.
The IRS determines the degrees of separation from the veteran that qualify for membership in a veterans’ service organization auxiliary. The relationship must be within two degrees of “consanguinity” in order to be eligible. That means two generations back (i.e. parents or grandparents) or forward (i.e. children or grandchildren).
